Northwestern University/Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, USA
Visiting Scholar program in Pediatric Dermatology at Lurie Children’s Hospital/Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
Lurie Children’s Hospital offers a one-year Visiting Scholar program in pediatric dermatology. This is an unpaid position, and is offered only for a full year in length.
Demonstration of the ability to support your full year in Chicago is required by our Graduate Medical Education (GME) office. There is no fee to join the program. However, to be considered eligible, it must be demonstrated that the candidate is sponsored or employed by an institution, industry or their government, and that they are authorized for work/study during the dates of the proposed fellowship. It is also required to demonstrate that the candidate has a position waiting for them upon their return.
Given our GME guidelines, this program is considered an observership, as our GME office does not permit full "hands-on" medicine for trainees who are not licensed to practice medicine in the U.S. As such, the visiting scholar is not permitted to actively partake in procedures such as outpatient surgery and laser therapy, and while they have access to the electronic medical, they do not have documentation privileges. In addition to clinics, trainees will participate in all didactic educational programs, book reviews, journal clubs, care conferences and the Vascular Lesion center interdisciplinary clinic.
