PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Blue Dress.jpg

As President of the International Society of Pediatric Dermatology, I welcome you. The mission of the ISPD is to support the international pediatric dermatology community. In particular, we hope to promote the growth of pediatric dermatology in regions without a strong organizational structure. Our current Board of Directors represent the geographic diversity of our organization and are highly committed to Society activities (see the photos and biographies of our leaders). We want to know about pediatric dermatologists across the world and to hear your thoughts about how best our network can support you in caring for your pediatric patients with skin disorders.

We were thrilled with the participation (almost 1000 persons) in the recent World Congress of Pediatric Dermatology, held September 22-25th. The presentations were superb and really showed the global reach of pediatric dermatologists and the tremendous advances made in just the past 4 years since the last WCPD. We are so grateful to have partnered with the British Society for Pediatric Dermatology and particularly thank Dr. Veronica Kinsler and her excellent team for creating a highly informative meeting despite so many unknowns in dealing with the pandemic. The ISPD had the opportunity to direct two symposia (one jointly  with the International Eczema Council) at the beginning of the WCPD, and give our first ISPD-sponsored international awards during the closing ceremony. We again acknowledge the many contributions of awardees Drs. Antonio Torrelo (Spain), Carola Duran-McKinster (Mexico), and Sandipan Dhar (India). We also had several meetings with candidates for the WCPD 2025, all compelling. Ultimately, Buenos Aires, Argentina was chosen as the 2025 site – and we look forward to working with the Latin American organizing team during the next few years.

During the past few months our membership numbers have soared to more than 500 – and we anticipate many more requests after the WCPD. We now have an expanded, 12-member Board of Directors that represents our members geographically and will move forward with new committee initiatives to deliver more educational opportunities through the website, social media, webinars and regional meetings. We invite our members to get involved on our committees to help with communication, mentorship, membership, sponsorship, and planning for scientific events.

We look forward to hearing from you and having you join us in our quest. Please become an active member of the ISPD and support the worldwide community of pediatric dermatologists.
